Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis Emphasizes Greece as a Strategic Gateway for Indian Companies into European Market

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the extensive potential for collaboration between Greece and India across various sectors during his address at the 'India-Greece Business Forum' in New Delhi on Thursday. Mitsotakis underscored the synergies between the two nations, particularly in shipping, pharmaceuticals, defense, drones, agriculture, information technology, and tourism.

Acknowledging the absence of direct flights between India and Greece, the Prime Minister anticipated a swift change in this scenario, given the immediate demand witnessed once such routes are established. He also highlighted the untapped potential in tourism and hospitality, noting the vibrant Indian community in Greece.

Mitsotakis highlighted the burgeoning tech sectors in both countries, with India being a technological powerhouse and Greece witnessing significant growth in its startup ecosystem. He emphasized the need for bold reforms and leveraging technology to enhance public services, a feat accomplished by both India and Greece in recent years.

Furthermore, Konstantinos Fragkogiannis, Greece's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, stressed the importance of capitalizing on the unique advantages of both nations to strengthen economic ties. He outlined specific areas of interest, including energy security, diversification of routes and supplies, and regional interconnections.

Bilateral engagements between India and Greece are prioritized in sectors such as artificial intelligence, culture, science, technology, tourism, and energy. Fragkogiannis highlighted the signing of agreements between FICCI and Enterprise Greece, as well as FICCI and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to further enhance economic cooperation.

The 'India-Greece Business Forum,' jointly organized by FICCI and Enterprise Greece, aimed to foster closer collaboration and explore avenues for mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.
