On Monday, a fire erupted within the sanctum sanctorum of the renowned Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, resulting in injuries to 13 priests, as confirmed by officials.
The incident occurred amidst the daily morning ritual known as the 'bhasma aarti'.
After initial investigations, authorities verified that more than a dozen individuals sustained injuries in the incident, although fortunately, no fatalities have been reported thus far.
The fire originated within the 'garba griha' or sanctum sanctorum of the temple, as informed by Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh during a media briefing.
Thirteen priests sustained burn injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at the district hospital, he further informed.
Furthermore, an official stated that a magisterial inquiry has been initiated to delve into the matter.
