Delhi Shivers at 8.3°C Minimum Temperature, Air Quality Hits 'Severe' Levels in Some Stations

Despite the weather conditions, the air quality in several parts of the city remained in the 'very poor' category, and some areas experienced 'severe' air quality levels.

The minimum temperature in the national capital, Delhi, on Wednesday was recorded at 8.3 degrees Celsius, slightly above the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast for the day indicated a maximum temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of approximately 8 degrees Celsius. Moderate fog was expected to persist during the day.

Despite the weather conditions, the air quality in several parts of the city remained in the 'very poor' category, and some areas experienced 'severe' air quality levels. For instance, the Anand Vihar area recorded PM2.5 levels at 391, and PM10 reached 365, both classified as 'very poor,' according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The Air Quality Index (AQI) categories range from 'good' to 'severe,' with 'very poor' and 'severe' indicating significant air pollution levels.

Various monitoring stations, including IGI Airport (T3) and Dwarka Sector 8, reported PM2.5 and PM10 levels falling into the 'severe' category. Air quality remains a concern in Delhi, with efforts ongoing to address pollution and improve overall environmental conditions.
