Delhi Registers Minimum Temperature of 6.6°C, Air Quality Persists as 'Very Poor'

The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport experienced dense fog during the early hours, with visibility ranging from 50 meters to 100 meters between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

On Thursday, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 6.6 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast indicated that the maximum temperature for the day is expected to be around 18 degrees Celsius, with the minimum hovering around 7 degrees Celsius.

The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport experienced dense fog during the early hours, with visibility ranging from 50 meters to 100 meters between 12:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The weather conditions improved later in the morning, with moderate fog at 300 meters and the Runway Visual Range (RVR) at 600 meters to 1200 meters at 8 a.m., according to the IMD.

Visibility at various airports at 8:30 a.m. was reported as follows: Amritsar-00, Jaipur-50, Cooch Behar-50, Shillong-100, Safdarjung-300, Gaya-300, Bengaluru-300, Tezpur-300, Palam-350, Agartala-350, Pantnagar-500, Dibrugarh-500.

Additionally, the air quality in the national capital remained in the 'very poor' category at several monitoring stations. In the Anand Vihar area at 9 a.m., PM2.5 levels were recorded at 312 (very poor), and PM10 levels reached 164 (moderate), according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The Air Quality Index (AQI) categorizes air quality between zero and 50 as 'good,' 51 and 100 as 'satisfactory,' 101 and 200 as 'moderate,' 201 and 300 as 'poor,' 301 and 400 as 'very poor,' and 401 and 500 as 'severe.'

At the IGI Airport T3, PM2.5 levels were reported at 148, and PM10 levels were at 109, both falling under the 'moderate' category.
