In a turn of events, the Congress party has alleged that the timing of Milind Deora's resignation just before the commencement of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed that Milind Deora had communicated his concerns about the Shiv Sena's claim to the South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat and expressed a desire to discuss the matter with Rahul Gandhi.

On social media platform X, Ramesh fondly recalled his association with Milind Deora's father, seven-time Congress MP Murli Deora, emphasizing Murli Deora's unwavering support for the Congress party.

In a post on X, Milind Deora announced his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress, marking the end of his family's 55-year relationship with the party. He had recently been appointed as the joint treasurer of the All India Congress Committee and had expressed dissatisfaction with the Shiv Sena's claim to the South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat.
