BSF Foils Infiltration Attempt, Neutralizes Pakistani Intruder at Pathankot Border

During a predawn raid on Wednesday, Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Pakistani infiltrator near the international border at Pathankot, Punjab. Feeling threatened, the BSF soldiers overpowered the intruder, whose identity is being checked. A BSF official from the Jammu Frontier said a protest note would be given to the Pakistan Rangers regarding the incident. The BSF secures the India-Pakistan border, which stretches 553 km in Punjab alone.

"Pre-dawn today, BSF soldiers observed suspicious activity on the International Border at BOP Tashpatan, Pathankot. A trespasser was seen crossing over and was questioned by our vigilant troops. But he disregarded the warnings and continued to move forward. Perceiving a threat, BSF soldiers overpowered him. His motive and identity are under investigation. A serious protest will be lodged with the Pakistan Rangers," BSF said in a release, quoted by ANI.

During another operation, BSF Meghalaya intercepted and arrested several individuals trying to sneak into India through the India-Bangladesh border. Based on intelligence inputs, BSF troops arrested four Bangladesh nationals in the West Jaintia Hills district and two in South Garo Hills.

In its ongoing endeavor to prevent illegal incursion and transborder offenses, BSF Meghalaya sent troops from its 4th and 1st Battalions, who promptly reacted to suspicious movement along the border. The arrested people were surrendered to local police for further legal action.

Initial investigations revealed that some of the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals had been working as masons in Mumbai’s Basantpur, while a female detainee had traveled to the city for her husband's medical treatment. The BSF remains on high alert to prevent illegal crossings and ensure border security.
