In the clip, Dr Sharma can be heard saying to Aamir Khan, “the original price of medicines is pretty low. But when we buy them from the market, we pay between 10-50% extra for those medicines. They are sold at higher prices. In India, more than 40 crore people fail to afford even food twice a day for themselves. Can they buy those overpriced medicines?"

Aamir Khan interrupted and shockingly asked, “Many people fail to afford medicines due to this reason?”

The guest nodded and continued, “Yes. The WHO says even after 65 years of independence, still 65 per cent of Indian population lacks regular access to essential medicines due to high pricing."

Baba Ramdev found himself in this huge controversy after a video of him was posted on Twitter where he was seen criticising allopathic medicine. The yoga guru was heard speaking against the allopathy branch of science saying that “lakhs have died from taking allopathic medicines for Covid-19." Due to this, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) sent out a statement asking Ramdev to apologise and take back his remarks.

However, Baba Ramdev's colleague Acharya Balkrishna later clarified that the yoga guru was quoting from WhatsApp messages as can be seen in that video. He also clarified that Baba Ramdev has full respect for allopathy and its practitioners.

However, this feud wasn’t put to rest as Ramdev proceeded to pose 25 questions to the practitioners of allopathy the next day. This resulted in an FIR filed by the IMA against the yoga guru.

Ever since the feud has flared up with both sides levelling charges against each other. The apex medical body of modern doctors has served a defamation notice on Ramdev for his alleged disparaging remarks against allopathy and allopathic practitioners, demanding an apology from him within 15 days, failing which it said it will demand compensation of Rs 1,000 crore from the yoga guru.
