Ayodhya Sees Massive Influx on Mauni Amavasya: Over 50 Lakh Pilgrims in 72 Hours

Ayodhya witnessed an overwhelming surge of devotees on Mauni Amavasya, coinciding with the massive pilgrim influx in Prayagraj for the holy snan.

From the early hours, thousands of devotees took a holy dip in the Saryu River before proceeding to the grand Ram Temple for darshan of Lord Ram. The chants of "Shri Ram" echoed throughout Ayodhya Dham, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Hanumangarhi also saw huge crowds, with pilgrims first paying their respects there before heading to Ram Lala’s darshan.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had anticipated a record-breaking turnout and instructed officials to ensure seamless crowd management and darshan arrangements. The Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat witnessed the highest number of devotees performing the ritual bath.

The pilgrimage boom has significantly boosted Ayodhya’s local economy. Businesses, from ‘prasad’ vendors to hoteliers, have reported sharp increases in sales. Homestays are witnessing a surge in bookings as visitors flock to the city, further stimulating economic activity.

Authorities have implemented stringent security and health measures. All vehicle entries inside the fair area have been restricted, and heavy police deployment is in place to maintain order.

The Health Department remains on high alert, with doctors’ leaves canceled until Basant Panchami. Emergency services will operate 24×7, and 13 temporary health camps have been set up to provide immediate medical assistance to pilgrims until February 26.
