On Saturday, the Army disclosed that a thwarted infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector had clear intentions of disrupting peace and the electoral process in Kashmir.
A statement from the defense ministry highlighted, "A coordinated effort led by the Indian Army successfully intercepted a terrorist infiltration attempt along the LoC in Uri Sector on April 5, 2024."
"Prior to this operation, various intelligence agencies had provided significant inputs regarding the intentions of terrorist groups to infiltrate across the LoC in Uri Sector. Consequently, the surveillance and counter-infiltration measures were bolstered."
"In the early hours of April 5, our surveillance teams near the LoC detected the movement of a group of terrorists heading towards the LoC. Our forces meticulously tracked their movements and engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire."
"During the operation, there were intermittent exchanges of fire from Pakistani forward posts near the Line of Control."
"The operation led to the elimination of two terrorists and the seizure of two AK rifles, three magazines, four hand grenades, along with ammunition and other military supplies."
