In a recent episode of the popular streaming chat show 'Koffee With Karan,' Bollywood luminaries Kajol and Rani Mukerji graced the screen, engaging in lively banter with the show's affable host, Karan Johar. The duo delved into their relationship dynamics, shedding light on why their camaraderie didn't blossom immediately despite sharing a familial bond.
Although Kajol and Rani appeared together in KJo's directorial debut 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' their friendship didn't spark right away, and they didn't spend considerable time together until life's course steered them closer over time.
During the candid conversation, Karan Johar inquired, "You both share a strong bond now, but previously, there seemed to be no friendship or connection between you, correct?"
To which Kajol responded candidly, "Not really."
Reflecting on the past dynamics between Kajol and Rani, Karan recalled, "I used to ponder over the distance between families that are cousins. Was there a natural separation, or were you not close to that side of the family?"
Agreeing with Karan, Kajol affirmed, "It was indeed a natural distance. Professionally, both of us were content where we stood."
Karan directed the question to Rani, probing, "Did you feel a sense of distance when you worked alongside her?"
Rani elucidated, "Certainly. I've known her since childhood; she was always 'Kajol didi' to me. It felt a bit peculiar. As you grow older, you naturally drift apart without understanding the reason. Our interactions were infrequent; Kajol didi resided in Town while we were in Juhu. My bond with Tanisha was much closer, and it remains so. Kajol didi always shared a stronger connection with the male members of the family - my brother and Samrat da. It was a bit unusual."
Viewers can catch 'Koffee With Karan' season 8 streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, witnessing such engaging tête-à-têtes.
