KJo Unveils Varun and Sid's Advice Against Casting Alia in 'Student of the Year'

The latest episode of Karan Johar's streaming chat show, 'Koffee With Karan', featured actors Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, who shared an interesting revelation about their initial apprehensions regarding actress Alia Bhatt's casting in their debut film, 'Student of the Year' back in 2012.

In a candid conversation, Karan Johar disclosed to the duo that initially, both Sidharth and Varun weren't keen on having Alia as the female lead in the high school drama. They had messaged Karan expressing doubts about her suitability for the role due to concerns about her being too young. However, Karan recalled a photoshoot three months later, where Alia's demeanor convinced him she was the perfect fit for the film.

Amidst the conversation, Sid also light-heartedly teased Karan about the director's strictness during the making of 'Student of the Year,' which marked the debut for Sidharth, Varun, and Alia. Varun humorously mentioned Karan's strict oversight even in the dietary aspects of the actors, emphasizing the need for the three debutants to maintain a specific appearance for the high school musical.

Varun humorously shared about their limited food intake, jesting that Karan was stringent about their meals, leading Sid to playfully add that their budget was first cut from their food allowance. They joked about instances of dehydration due to restricted water intake, playfully labeling it as "child labor."
