The highly awaited trailer for the new season of the favorite streaming series 'Panchayat' was officially released on Wednesday. This time, the series seems to take a more serious turn, as the trailer hints.
The storyline begins with a new young Panchayat secretary coming to the fictional village of Phulera. Things get heated with the entry of 'Banrakas', and the village readies for Panchayat elections with the threat looming large of the incumbent 'Pradhan Pati' losing power.
Banrakas, backed by the local MLA, becomes the prime opponent to the current Pradhan Pati. What once used to be a light-hearted drama, now adopts the elements of action, with bullets flying and adding a new dimension to the heartwarming storytelling of the series.
Familiar faces in the trailer include Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa, getting entangled in a mesh of emotions and political drama. Jeetu's character, Abhishek, finds a love interest in Rinki, daughter of the village Pradhan.
Neena Gupta, who plays the role of Manju Devi, the village Pradhan, also said that she was glad to come back for the third season: "Working on 'Panchayat' has been an absolute joy. Coming back for season 3 felt like coming home." She described how, despite the series being rural, it is relatable and yet addresses universal themes and challenges in a comical and raw manner.
Before this, the trailer for the third season had been leaked online and had to be removed immediately.
'Panchayat' is the brainchild of The Viral Fever, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and written by Chandan Kumar.
Jitendra Kumar, who plays Abhishek, the protagonist of the series, reflected on his journey with the show: "Being part of 'Panchayat' has been a tremendous honor for me. It's thanks to this show that I've become a household name." He credited his co-stars for their support and contribution to his growth as an actor, underscoring that the show's ability to resonate with audiences was by weaving together stories one could relate to of life's highs and lows.
The much-awaited third season of 'Panchayat' is going to drop on May 28 exclusively on Prime Video.
