Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has posted an emotional message after her husband Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket.
Virat announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday, May 12, and in his post, he had expressed how the longest version of the game had "tested," "shaped," and taught him lessons for life that would last forever.
After announcing the news, Anushka shared a throwback picture of the couple from the 2019 Test series in Australia. With the picture, she captioned on Instagram:
"They'll speak of the records and the landmarks — but I'll recall the tears you never cried, the struggles nobody noticed, and the unshakeable love you gave this version of the game. I know how much this cost you. After each Test series, you returned a little wiser, a little humbler — and to see you change through it all has been an honour."
She went on, "Somehow, I always thought you'd retire international cricket in whites — But you've always gone with your heart, and so I just want to say my love, you've earned every bit of this goodbye."
Virat Kohli, who led India for many years, made his Test cricket debut in 2011. Throughout his career, he played in 123 games and scored 9,230 runs in the game.
In his tearful retirement letter, Kohli stated:
“It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life. There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever.”
Anushka and Virat got married in a quiet wedding in Italy in 2017 following a number of years dating each other. The pair have two kids today.
