Finally, the most-awaited new season teaser of the dystopian survival thriller series 'Squid Game' is out, and fans are ecstatic at the sight of it.
The tease gives an introduction to the new batch of contestants whose numbers are unveiled. The footage flashes the back profiles of a few players and confirms the return of Player 456, Seong Gi Hun, played by Lee Jung Jae.
Netflix posted the teaser as part of an Instagram post, stating, "Players, it's almost time—SQUID GAME Season 2 arrives December 26."
Additionally, creator and director Hwang Dong Hyuk teased some very cool developments for Season 3, due to arrive in 2025.
Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon will return for the second season while Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Jo Yu Ri, Won Ji An, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, T.O.P, Lee Jin Wook, David Lee, Noh Jae Won, Kang Ae Sim, and Oh Dal Soo are joining the cast.
'Squid Game' is a Netflix original series focused on a secret competition wherein 456 people in a dire financial crisis risk their lives by participating in deadly children's games. This puts them at a chance to win a life-changing amount of money.
The first season, released on the 17th of September 2021, holds the record on Netflix for the most watched series and tops viewership charts in 94 countries. It has beaten 'Bridgerton' and emerged as the most watched series on this platform.
It also grabbed a few awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film for O Yeong-su and the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Male and Female Actor in a Drama Series. The work further received 14 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series.
