The new Taylor Swift release hit Number 1 on the Billboard 200 again, her fourth-titled album under the umbrella of The Tortured Poets Department.
The album has spent 13 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1: Originally released on April 19, the record spent its first 12 weeks at No. 1 before being dethroned by Eminem's The Death of Slim Shady( Coup de Grace), according to Variety, in late July.
After spending two weeks at Number 2, The Tortured Poets Department reclaimed the top spot and earned 71,000 equivalent album units in the week ending August 1 based on Luminate's figures.
The last album to spend at least 13 weeks at No. 1 was Morgan Wallen's One Thing at a Time, which spent 19 nonconsecutive weeks atop the list from March 2023 to March 2024, per Billboard.
Variety also points out that, prior to Eminem's new album bumping her off the top of the chart, Swift's album already set a new record for the most weeks in a row at Number 1 by a female artist, besting Whitney Houston's *Whitney* from 1987, which originally spent 11 weeks at Number 1.
As for other Billboard 200 news, Chappell Roan's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess reaches its peak position yet, rising from No. 8 to No. 4. Stray Kids' latest LP, ATE, fell from the top of the list and settled this frame at No. 6, while Wallen's One Thing at a Time held firm at No. 2.
