Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan lay on a hospital bed in Ahmedabad on Wednesday after succumbing to a heat stroke, local authorities confirmed.
The star was immediately admitted to the multi-speciality K D Hospital after the incident during his visit to Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Khan had gone to the Narendra Modi Stadium to cheer for his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, in an IPL match.
The rising temperatures in Ahmedabad, which scaled up to 45.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 45.9 degrees on Wednesday, are likely to have been the reason behind Khan's bad health episode.
The hospital premises had additional security measures in place immediately after the admission of the actor, indicating heightened concern for his well-being.
Though the health setback didn't deter the KKR team from securing a thumping win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 and reaching their fourth IPL final. Videos doing the rounds on KKR's official social media handles showed Khan celebrating in his usual dashing style with children Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan as they took a victory lap in celebration of the team's win. Khan was also seen to be his affable self as he interacted with fans and players at the stadium.
The big finale on Sunday in Chennai requires the KKR camp to gear up for the big finale as well as Khan's quick recovery.
