The highly anticipated horror-action-comedy The Bhootnii, starring Sanjay Dutt, has officially changed its release date. Initially set to premiere on April 18, 2025, the movie will now be released on May 1, 2025.
The crew of The Bhootnii is said to be working on improving the visual experience with state-of-the-art VFX work, which is more time-consuming than expected. The producers have asserted their dedication to providing a quality film that combines scares with laughter and action.
Making the new release announcement, the producers posted a quirky message:
"Insaan mohabbat wali date fix kar sakta hai, bhootnii ke aane ki nahi. woh kab aayegi, kaise aayegi, yeh sirf wahi jaanti hai! Laga tha 18th April ko aayegi lekin ab aa rahi hai 1st May ko, taiyaar rehna! #TheBhootnii – in cinemas 1st May 2025!"
If the film had been released as originally scheduled, it would have been up against strong competition at the box office from Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2.
The film also stars Navneet Malik in a cameo role as Sanjay Dutt's young avatar. Describing the task, Navneet recently informed IANS:
"Has really been an absolute joy working with the one and only Sanjay Dutt. In fact, in the movie, I'm acting none other than the one and only Sanjay Dutt himself. But I don't want to give away the whole story or the complete story about my character just yet. I would just love it if everybody goes out to the movies and sees the film — and then, naturally, we can have a chat about it."
The trailer of the movie has already generated a huge buzz, with fans and critics giving it a very positive reaction.
Besides Sanjay Dutt, The Bhootnii has an impressive ensemble cast such as Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, Beyounick, and Aasif Khan.
Produced under the banners of Zee Studios, Soham Rockstar Entertainment, and Three Dimension Motion Pictures, the film is being bankrolled by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt, with Hunar Mukut and Maanayata Dutt serving as co-producers. The film will be distributed globally by Zee Studios.
