Bollywood hunk Salman Khan countered the furore over the 31-year age difference between him and his "Sikandar" co-star, Rashmika Mandanna, at the movie's trailer launch on Sunday. He asked why social media people are bothered about the age difference, observing that neither Rashmika nor her father has a problem with it.
Salman, 59, said, "They claim there's a 31-year gap between the heroine and me. If the heroine doesn't have any issue and neither does her father, then why do you have an issue?" He jokingly added, "And when she gets married, has a daughter, and becomes a big star, we'll still work together. We'll definitely take the mother's permission."
The actor also complemented Rashmika, 28, for her hard work and dedication. He revealed that she would be done with her shoot for *Pushpa 2* by 7 p.m., move to the set of *Sikandar* by 9 p.m., and be on set until 6:30 a.m. He even mentioned how committed she was even after a leg injury. "She reminds me a lot of the younger me," Salman explained.
When queried on the burden of expectations that accompanies featuring in a typical Salman Khan film, he waved it off by saying, "With years of experience, the enthusiasm is still there, and it's getting easier."
Salman also attributed the box office success of his movies to his fans, admitting that their affection is what makes his films reach ₹100 or ₹200 crore at the box office, irrespective of the quality of the movie. "Whether it's Eid, Diwali, New Year, festive or non-festive, it's the love of the people that makes the difference," he joked.
The movie Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, is set to release in theatres on March 30, coinciding with the festival of Eid. The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
