“The Union” centers around a construction worker from New Jersey who is enlisted by his high school sweetheart for a high-stakes US intelligence mission, according to reports from people.com.

During the interview, Wahlberg delved into the dynamic between the film's two protagonists, portrayed by himself and Berry respectively.

"They were childhood sweethearts, and they come back together. He basically waited 25 years for her to come back, walk back through that door and into his life, and it happens, and there isn’t anything he wouldn't do to prove himself to her if he got a second chance," he explained.

Wahlberg continued, highlighting the motivation behind his character's actions: "For me, that was the whole motivation of the character: just do anything he could to not screw it up again."

However, Wahlberg acknowledged the peculiar nature of portraying a romantic relationship onscreen, particularly given his marriage to wife Rhea Durham since 2009.

"I think it’s a little weird anyway when you’re portraying some sort of romance onscreen, it’s not normal, but my wife knows that she is my everything," he reassured. "She is the most special woman in the world."
