"Leeds is an amazing festival, not just for its incredible heartfelt curation, but also because it is an Academy Award qualifying festival that screened close to 250 amazing films this year! So I got an opportunity to present The Fable in person in Leeds for the UK premiere and the audience response to the film was incredibly engaging-it was amazing."

This recognition for Best Film on such an important international platform makes me feel thankful and fulfilled as a filmmaker. I would love to dedicate this award to my fantastic team whose sustained passion and effort over the years have brought *The Fable* to life!

Bajpayee also had a few words to share. I feel really fortunate to be a part of The Fable and to see how it has connected with audiences around the world. It was a very enriching experience to work under the thoughtful storytelling and unique blend of magical realism by director Raam Reddy, who worked along with Pratap Reddy, Juhi Agarwal, and later, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain.

This was a journey of an experience and with talent so strong that I felt my co-stars, Priyanka Bose and Deepak Dobriyal and especially Tillotama Shome were extraordinary with the potential to touch hearts worldwide.

About The Fable-

The film is set in 1989 in northeast India. It follows the character Dev (Bajpayee) who, along with his family of four, owns a large, once-colonial estate. Life in their estate was pleasant and normal until one day, he chanced upon a burnt apple blossom tree in his estate. In the days to follow, he found more trees and bushes were burnt. Dev mistakenly thinks this is the fault of the poor-but-loyal employees working in his property or Nomads.
