Just after few days, former Shia Waqf Board Chief left Islam, Malayalam director Ali Akbar has also renounced Islam, and named himself 'Ram Singh'. Akbar being a nationalist renounced Islam in protest against those who had celebrated the tragic death of CDS General Bipin Rawat. When media broke the story of accidental demise of India's first CDS on social media, many people reacted to that post with smiley emoticons. To stand firm against such people, Akbar made the announcement of leaving Islam in a video posted on social media on Friday.

3. “I am not a Muslim from today onwards. I am an Indian," the director said in the video. In the video, he further slammed those who put smiley emoticons below the news reports related to the death of General Rawat and said he could not stand with the “anti-nationals" anymore.
4. With big announcement Akbar said he will be known as Ram Singh. “Ramasimhan is a person who was killed while adhering to the culture of Kerala… Now Ali Akbar will be called Ram Singh. That’s the best name,” he added.
5. Akbar, has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Debut Director in the year 1988, and has directed more than 20 films. And now he is doing a film ‘1921; Puzha Muthal Puzha Varey’ which is based on the Malabar rebellion and the massacre.

6. Ali Akbar was also the state committee member of BJP, and left the position over some disagreement.
