Legendary pop star Madonna has admitted she did not know her actual address when she lived in the UK with her then-husband, director Guy Ritchie, because she was used to having a driver.
Madonna and the 'Gentlemen' helmer were married between 2000 and 2008, and lived most of the time at Ritchie's Ashcombe House mansion in Wiltshire, South West England.
Eventing champion William Fox-Pitt recounted that Madonna once contacted him for riding lessons. He told the Daily Telegraph: "She found me through Google and expressed interest in lessons but mentioned she didn’t have a horse. When I asked for her address, she admitted she didn’t know it."
“I told her I’d never heard of anyone not knowing where they lived, but she said she had only been driven there, and we established it might be somewhere near Salisbury. But she ended up coming to Hinton St Mary for lessons.”
Fox-Pitt, an Olympic veteran, described having a "good relationship" with Madonna, although she occasionally ignored his instructions. One particularly frightening incident occurred when she fell off her horse, leading him to fear the worst, according to femalefirst.co.uk.
“I regularly had to pinch myself. We had a good relationship, she was a good learner but she didn’t always want to learn. There were days when she just wanted to go for a ride. But it was a big risk [because of who she was] not to fall off.” he said.
"After building an indoor riding school at Ashcombe, she invited me to see her new horse," he continued.
“She was brave but not really a jump rider, and she fell off. I didn’t know where to look. She was lying on the floor, didn’t move and I was thinking, ‘oh my god, she’s dead’. Then she proceeded to come alive very quickly. And vocally.”
Madonna was reportedly angry that Fox-Pitt’s immediate concern was for the horse rather than her.
