Lata Mangeshkar still in ICU of Mumbai hospital, doctors say 'trying our best for her recovery'

“Lata Ji is still in ICU, we are trying our best to ensure she recovers soon. Pray for her recovery,"  Dr. Pratit Samdani, who is treating the music icon,  was quoted as saying by India Today.

The condition of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is "stable" but she continues to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai. The 92-year-old singer was admitted to the hospital on January 8 after she tested positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms.

“Lata Ji is still in ICU, we are trying our best to ensure she recovers soon. Pray for her recovery,"  Dr. Pratit Samdani, who is treating the music icon,  was quoted as saying by India Today.

A couple of days ago, rumors were circulating all around regarding her deteriorating condition but her spokesperson  Anusha Srinivsan clarified on wednesday that her condition is stable.

 “Lata Di is stable. Will come home after the doctors give the nod,” Anusha Srinivasan told news agency PTI.

“It is disturbing to see false news being circulated. Please note that Lata didi is stable. Continues to be in ICU under treatment of able doctors. Please pray for her quick return home,” she added.

In her seven decades of singing career, the iconic singer has sung 30,000 songs in several languages. She is considered the nightingale of our country because of  her melodious voice. She has been an inspiration for asipiring singers of many generations.Lata Mangeshkar was born in 1929 and started her career as a singer in 1942. She has been felicitated with many prestigious awards including Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna  in the year 1969 and 1990 respectively. In 1990, she was also conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke award. She started to gain attention with one of her first major hits "Aayega Aanewala" from movie Mahal in 1949. Her name was also incorporated in "The Guinness Book of Records" for being the most taped or recorded artist of the history in 1974.
