Bollywood heartthrob Akshay Kumar made the announcement on Saturday that his highly anticipated movie Kesari Chapter 2, starring Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan, will hit the screens globally on April 18.
The actor made the thrilling announcement on Instagram, releasing a motion poster of the new film and announcing that the teaser will come out on March 24.
The motion poster showing a blood-soaked brick wall with bullet marks reads: "A revolution painted in courage… Kesari Chapter 2," as the sound of gunshots can be heard in the background.
With the motion poster, Akshay captioned: "Kuch ladaaiyan hathiyaaron se nahi ladi jaati. #KesariChapter2 teaser out on 24th March. This announcement comes after marking the sixth anniversary of Akshay's last movie Kesari, which was out in 2019. Marking the special day, Akshay had posted stills of Kesari on Instagram and overlay text in his post was: "6 years ago… A story of bravery shook the country." His post went on: "21 Sikhs facing thousands of Afghans. Surrounded. Outnumbered. But never beaten. They battled like lions, they were legends."
He also penned: "History penned one chapter… Now, we pen the next. The saffron rises again. New battle, same fire. Tomorrow." In his post caption, he expressed his enthusiasm: "6 years of Kesari. Celebrating the spirit of Kesari. Celebrating a new chapter that begins…soon!"
The movie Kesari showed the historic Battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikh warriors of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army bravely fought against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897.
Going by the motion poster of Kesari Chapter 2, it is assumed that the movie will be about the untold history of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Karan Johar, on 20th March, announced the film would present a new director, who had devoted 4-5 years to the endeavor and stuck to it despite lockdown-induced delays.
