Karni Sena to Akshay Kumar: Change title of 'Prithviraj' or be ready to face 'what happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali'

Taking to his Instagram, Rathore while sharing a clipping of a news article, wrote that the outfit respects Akshay Kumar and appreciates him for his work in the past. He added that producer Aditya Chopra would have paid more respect to the last Hindu Samrat and would have used his name in a more respectful manner. He warned that either they accept these conditions or consequences would be the same as they were during the release of Padmaavat.

After warning many Bollywood filmmakers, Karni Sena has now sent a threat to Akshay Kumar over his upcoming project Prithviraj, demanding a change in the title of the movie. Surjit Singh Rathore, president of the youth wing of the Karni Sena, has said that there are three conditions for the filmmakers which they can accept that or be ready to face what happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the release of Padmaavat.

Further in the post, he put out three conditions for the filmmakers and Akshay- screening of the film before its release, the film be shown to the Rajput society, and the title of the film to have the full name i.e. 'Veer Yoddha Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’. He warned that either they accept these conditions or consequences would be the same as they were during the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat.

The film under the YRF banner is a biopic of 12th-century Indian monarch Prithviraj Chauhan who fought many deadly battles and ruled present-day Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. IN 2019, on the birth anniversary of the Monarch, Akshay Kumar announced the project while sharing a short teaser of the movie. He wrote, “Elated to share about my 1st historical film on my birthday! Humbled to have the opportunity to play a hero I look up to for his valor & values- Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan in one of my biggest films #Prithviraj. Producer @yrf , director #DrChandraprakashDwivedi, releasing Diwali 2020.”

The movie was scheduled to see its release on November 5 this year, but the pandemic affected the production process and the release has been delayed. The movie casts Miss Universe Manushi Chillar opposite Akshay Kumar. It also features actors like Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij, and Lalit Tiwari.
