"Kalki 2898 AD", directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, is coming soon to OTT. The film has an ensemble cast featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan. It will premiere for streaming on Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, with English subtitles, on August 22. Its Hindi version will be available on Netflix on the same date.
The film, special in appearances by Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur, is supposed to hit the theatres on June 27. It has been informed that it is the most lavish budget film ever made in India, costing about ₹600 crores.
While Amitabh Bachchan—who plays the immortal warrior Ashwathhama—had already shared his praise for the project through a detailed post on his personal blog, Prabhas, who will be seen as Bhairava, tagged his experience for working on the film as "truly exhilarating."
The film grossed ₹114 crore on the opening day. In the first week, it earned ₹494.5 crore; in the second week, ₹151.75 crore; and in the third week, ₹66.05 crore. Now, on the fourth Sunday, on July 21, its total box office collection remains at ₹732.8 crore (gross). In the Andhra Pradesh/Telangana region, it had created a huge impact and made an amount of ₹270.5 crores. The film has a reportedly high budget production cost of ₹600 crore and becomes one of the top films of 2024 as it crossed over ₹1100 crore globally in box office earnings. Film was earlier titled as "Project K".
