The newest entrant in the "Housefull" franchise, Housefull 5, featuring Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, and Jacqueline Fernandez amongst others, has collected a domestic box office total of Rs 91.83 crore nett over its first weekend, reported the producers' announcement on Monday.
The film is produced under the house of Sajid Nadiadwala, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, and is directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who directed Dostana.
In addition to the lead actors, the film also includes Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Soundarya Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. It released in theaters on June 6 and is the fifth film in the hit Housefull franchise.
The production company provided day-wise box office collections information on their X (formerly Twitter) handle.
They posted, "A weekend full of laughter, love… and Housefull screens! Thank you for making Day 3 so special. Our hearts are full because of you. #Housefull5 In Cinemas NOW! Book your tickets today."
The debut day of the movie collected Rs 24.35 crore nett, which went up to Rs 32.38 crore nett on the second day. By the third day, the total collection amounted to Rs 35.10 crore nett.
The franchise first debuted in 2010 with the original Housefull film, which was a commercial success. Its subsequent sequels were in 2012, 2016, and 2019, each of which kept the franchise going.
