Gal Gadot on Playing the Evil Queen in 'Snow White': 'A Delicious Role to Play'

Gal Gadot just opened up about her experience with the live-action remake of Disney's Snow White and how she is set to take on the legendary villain role of the Evil Queen. When reminiscing on the experience, Gadot mentioned it was quite exhilarating as well as slightly tricky, given that it had been some time since she last auditioned for a role.

In a GQ video, the Wonder Woman actress opened up about having to prove that she could sing for the musical part, and that required one more level of preparation. "They needed to ensure that I can sing because this is a musical," Gadot explained, adding that she worked on the song for weeks prior to auditioning.

After a month's preparation, Gadot recorded her audition, and she was excited when she received the role. "It was very exciting," she continued.

In another interview with People, Gadot related a warm anecdote regarding how her daughters responded when they learned about her role. At first, her oldest daughter did not react upon hearing that Gadot would play the Evil Queen. But her middle child was somewhat disheartened when she understood her mom wouldn't be playing titular Snow White, as she had expected. Gadot's oldest daughter, however, responded with a smiling "Oh, how appropriate" to the news.

In 2022, during D23, Gadot and Snow White actress Rachel Zegler had given a quick preview of their characters in the new film. Zegler explained that the new take on Snow White is a modern one, where Snow White is shown to learn to find her voice and autonomy, thus making her a righteous and equitable queen.

The live-action Snow White is being directed by Marc Webb with a script by Barbie director Greta Gerwig. The film will hit the screens on March 22, 2024, and fans are excited to watch Gadot's version of the classic villainess.
