'Dunki' Marks SRK's Lowest Budget Film in 6 Years, Poised for Profit Even Before Release

This budget places 'Dunki' as Shah Rukh Khan's most modestly funded project in the last seven years, overshadowing films like 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and 'Raees,' which were produced at budgets around Rs 90-95 crore.

Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood icon, gears up for his upcoming venture 'Dunki,' featuring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, crafted on an estimated budget of Rs 85 crore.

This budget places 'Dunki' as Shah Rukh Khan's most modestly funded project in the last seven years, overshadowing films like 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and 'Raees,' which were produced at budgets around Rs 90-95 crore. It notably stands in stark contrast to his earlier ventures like 'Zero' (Rs 200 crore), 'Pathaan' (Rs 240 crore), and the recent 'Jawan' (Rs 300 crore).

However, it's worth noting that the reported budget of Rs 85 crore excludes talent costs, a factor that can significantly influence the overall expenditure.

According to media reports, the film's director, Rajkumar Hirani, adopted a prudent approach in expenditure, wrapping up shooting within 75 days, with Shah Rukh Khan's involvement spanning 60 days. This careful handling of resources positions 'Dunki' in a profitable stance even before its anticipated release.

Shah Rukh Khan juggled commitments between the sets of 'Jawan' and 'Dunki,' dedicating more time to the former due to its extended schedule.

Evidently, Hirani tailored 'Dunki's schedule around Shah Rukh Khan's availability amidst 'Jawan's commitments. 'Jawan,' having premiered on September 7, stands as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film and the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, reportedly amassing collections of around Rs 1150 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

'Dunki' is slated for a Christmas release this December, setting the stage for a clash with Prabhas-starrer 'Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.' The clash of these highly anticipated films is expected to draw significant attention from cinephiles and industry enthusiasts alike.
