Renowned rapper Drake, a distinguished five-time Grammy winner, expressed his sentiments regarding the ongoing 66th edition of the Grammy Awards, where he and 21 Savage were nominees in four categories but did not secure any awards.
Opting to perform in Tampa, Florida, instead of attending the ceremony, Drake took to the Stories section of his Instagram, sharing a perspective on the Grammy Awards. He stated, “All you incredible artistes remember this show isn’t the facts, it’s just the opinion of a group of people whose name are kept a secret… (literally you can google it). Congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop, but this show doesn’t dictate sh** in our world.” This isn't the first time Drake has criticized the Grammys, as he has questioned their relevance and transparency, particularly in recognizing the contributions of hip-hop and black artists.
In 2019, during his acceptance speech for Best Rap Song, Drake used the platform to convey that the Grammys might not accurately represent the true value of music, urging artists not to measure their success solely by trophies. His recent remarks continue to highlight the ongoing debate around the credibility and representation of diverse genres in award shows.
