Akshay Kumar, set to present the documentary 'Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek,' emphasized its significance in honoring the profound sense of unity ingrained in every Indian.
Directed by Aanand L Rai, "Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek" encapsulates the journey of a visionary aspiration transforming into reality. The 40-minute documentary commemorates the essence of unity that binds the nation together and pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the visionary leader behind the integration of 562 fragmented princely states into a unified India post-independence.
Featuring insights from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who envisioned the project during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat, the documentary chronicles the meticulous process of creating the Statue of Unity.
From the initial announcement in 2013 by then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and laying the foundation stone in Kevadia (Gujarat), to the completion of the world's tallest statue at 182 meters, symbolizing the total constituencies in Gujarat's State Legislative Assembly.
Akshay Kumar expressed, "Being involved in 'Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek' has been profoundly humbling. It encapsulates the noble spirit of unity that resonates within every Indian."

The documentary sheds light on PM Modi's innovative initiative to procure iron for the statue, where over six lakh villages donated an old iron farming tool each, echoing Sardar Patel's call to farmers during the independence movement. Similarly, soil from across the nation was utilized, symbolizing unity in the statue's construction.
As the narrative progresses, the team behind the Statue of Unity offers viewers an inspiring journey, delving into its inception, construction, and the transformative impact on the local community, as Kevadia evolves into Ekta Nagar.
Director Aanand remarked, "Revolutions are born when individuals unite for a greater cause, led by visionaries who inspire and guide. Sardar Patel epitomized such vision, advocating the significance of unity in nation-building."
"The documentary reflects on the legacy of the architect of united India and showcases the remarkable metamorphosis of Gujarat's modest Kevadia into a global tourist destination," he added.
Highlighting the success stories of locals benefiting from the project, with their town emerging as a prominent tourist hub, the documentary explores notable tourist attractions surrounding the Statue of Unity, accentuated by the region's natural beauty.
It shines a spotlight on the bustling tourist destination, witnessing a surge of up to 50,000 visitors in a single day.
'Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek' is set to premiere on History TV18 on March 8.
