In a significant turn of events in the Disha Salian case, Nilesh Ojha, the lawyer representing her father, Satish Salian, has called for the authorities to recreate the crime scene and perform a narco test on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, among other accused persons in the case.
Disha, who had earlier handled Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died in June 2020 after she was reportedly thrown off the 14th floor of a housing society building in Malad, Mumbai.
Ojha's demands were made after he met Joint Commissioner of Police, Lakshmi Gautam, and put forth three major demands in connection with the ongoing probe.
Talking to IANS, he added: "We met Joint CP Lakshmi Gautam ji and put three key demands in front of her. First, our complaint has been officially acknowledged by the minister and the government. The police assured us that the case will be transferred to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). They said, though, that there is a technical barrier that they have to sort out first—since the case involves allegations of gang rape and murder, the formal crime number needs to be allocated first."
He went on to say: "Our second demand was to provide police security to all those associated with the case, especially the witnesses. We pointed out that people could either be wrongly declared suicide cases or fall victim to suspicious accidents. So we have appealed to the authorities to protect the witnesses so they can feel safe enough to give evidence."
Ojha also expressed his unhappiness with the SIT, pointing a finger of blame at its inactivity in the last 15 months.
"The SIT has not made any serious headway. They have not even served a notice to the family or tried a 'scene recreation' to confirm the allegations that Disha had fallen from a height of only 20 feet. This needs to be recreated to ascertain if the official version has any substance. We want the authorities to carry out a scene recreation as part of the investigation," he claimed.
Moreover, he had stressed the need for a narco analysis of the main suspects.
"Disha Salian's father Satish Salian has asked for a narco test on the accused including Aaditya Thackeray. It's their call whether to allow it or not," Ojha had said.
He also claimed that eyewitnesses had witnessed some of the country's top personalities, such as Aditya Pancholi, Dino Morea, and Aaditya Thackeray—along with their bodyguards—being involved in the suspected gang rape of the celebrity manager.
"We have five witnesses who are willing to testify in court, but their lives are in danger. The police have to provide them with proper security," he further added.
Also, Ojha accused former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh of trying to cover up the case.
"Param Bir Singh intentionally attempted to conceal the event. He claimed in public that Aaditya Thackeray was not in the area and even said that he had examined the CCTV video. But location data from mobile towers contradicts his words as it puts Aaditya Thackeray, Aditya Pancholi, and Dino Morea at the scene. His assertions are entirely fictitious," Ojha summarized.
