Sources said that in the eye of the storm regarding the photographs of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan, the actor had his choicest non-vegetarian dishes, liquor, bedding facilities, and the freedom to meet his associates availed to him.
In the abduction and murder case, the actor is a suspect, and he has been in judicial custody at the Central prison. Photos of him clicked during the coffee time and smoking cigarettes became viral on Sunday. The next-day alleged video call recording of Darshan also became viral.
In the 25-second duration footage, there is an associate of Darshan's who is seen making a video call and speaking to some other fellow on the other side with the earphones on his ears. On the other side, Darshan in his barrack appears on the screen and speaks to the person on the other end along his associate.
Sources have revealed that for Darshan, the prison has been turned into a resort-type place. He is allowed to have non-vegetarian food whenever he wants. The non-vegetarian food, especially chicken and mutton biryani, is being supplied to Darshan and his gang from a famous hotel in the Bengaluru South area, sources stated.
Darshan is known for his penchant of non-vegetarian dishes especially biryani. Now, again along with the biryani, he's also provided his choice of liquor. According to sources, the actor is being allowed to party inside the prison with notorious rowdies and has a blast of the time.
Sources said Darshan parties with rowdies Wilson Garden Naga, Backery Raghu and his close associates Nagaraj and Raghu. Sources also said that jailed rowdy facing charges of murder Wilson Garden Naga and Pavan had struck a deal with the jail officers.
It was also added that Darshan is even permitted to have cigarettes and massage within the prison. The sources further mentioned that it is impossible to get this kind of facility unless and otherwise one gets support from high profile ruling party politicians.
Sources further said that Darshan is being provided bedding facilities and also the freedom to meet his associates, gang up in his barrack and have a ball of time inside the prison besides the non-vegetarian food and liquor.
The official statement from the Home Department of the state said, "Considering the gravity of the issue, the Home Minister G. Parameshwara is personally visiting the Central Jail, Bangalore later in the day".
Interestingly, a team of sleuths from the City Central Crime Branch raided the Central Prison of Bengaluru last Saturday on a tip-off about the luxury treatment of Darshan. They also had information about the presence of weapons inside the prison. However, they returned empty-handed as they did not seize any material from the prison.
Sources had revealed that the news of the raid was leaked and the materials, including liquor, cigarettes, and mobiles, were shifted out of the prison in four boxes.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara had ordered to take a close look at the CCTVs' three-days footage to ascertain about the shifting of boxes. So far, the department has suspended seven prison staff, including two jailers, for giving luxury treatment to Darshan.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered shifting Darshan and his gang members to different prisons across the state and sought a report from chief of the Karnataka Police.
