Controversial stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has made public a message he received from a casting director inviting him to be a part of a new season of the popular reality show Bigg Boss, notoriously hosted by Salman Khan.
Instead of giving it a thought, however, Kamra replied in characteristic Kamra style—with acidic sarcasm.
Posting on Instagram Stories, Kamra posted a screenshot of a message he received from a casting director. The message said:
I'm handling the casting for this season of Bigg Boss and your name came up as someone they might find interesting. I know it might not have been on your priority list, but to be honest, it's such a crazy platform to get to present your true vibe and win over an enormous following. What do you say? Should we discuss?
Kamra's blunt reply? "I would much rather check into a mental hospital."
And to add insult to injury, he gave it a musical twist by providing a soundtrack with a song from Salman Khan's movie Radhe in the background of the narrative.
Though Kamra did not specify if the offer was for Bigg Boss 19 or the OTT version (Bigg Boss OTT), what he reacted with left no doubt that he has no desire for the drama-filled reality format.
This comes at a time when Kamra is caught in legal wrangles for remarks made during his recent stand-up special Naya Bharat, where he made a dig at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde—calling him a "traitor." The comment invited an FIR under defamation charges and statements that are conducive to public mischief.
After the controversy, Kamra alleged that he had received more than 500 death threats and was forced to leave Mumbai and shift temporarily to Tamil Nadu. The Madras High Court has now extended him interim protection against arrest until April 17.
The BookMyShow Clash
Adding to his recent challenges, Kamra also publicly criticized ticketing platform BookMyShow, alleging that the company delisted his shows without explanation. In response, BookMyShow issued a statement asserting that Kamra had misrepresented facts and reaffirmed their policies on content and ticketing decisions.
