Indian business owner and familiar reality television face Ashneer Grover, popular for Shark Tank India, will be back on screens with a new reality program called Rise & Fall. What is special about this production is that Grover is not only hosting the show—he is even hands-on in molding the casting process.
Hype about the show mounted recently, with rumors of choreographer and social media personality Dhanashree Verma having been finalized as a participant. But according to the latest news, it seems that the list is still uncertain, since Grover himself has been personally involved in both rejecting and approving names.
An insider within the production confirmed that Grover directly eliminated five contestants from the initial shortlist himself, calling them "too boring" or "not sharp enough for the game." Contrary to most reality shows that depend greatly on celebrity force, Grover is rumored to be working towards participants who could bring "strategy, wit, and drama" onto the television.
"He wasn't here for safe decisions," the insider revealed. "He would always try to get contestants with an edge, think innovatively, and mix things up."
Rise & Fall is coming soon on Amazon MX Player.
Grover became a national sensation with his cutting remarks and unapologetic views on Shark Tank India, and his catchphrase, "Bhai kya kar raha hai yaar tu," went viral with memes being created in abundance. He appeared later on Bigg Boss, where he was caught talking to Salman Khan about his experience with fintech firm BharatPe.
