Despite a robust opening weekend, War 2 still wrestles with Rajinikanth's Coolie at the box office. As per Sacnilk figures, the Hrithik Roshan starrer collected ₹33.25 crore on Day 3, grossing a domestic total of ₹142.6 crore.
The action film started off on August 14 with a strong ₹52 crore opening and witnessed collections increase further on Independence Day, August 15, at ₹57.35 crore. Nevertheless, Rajinikanth's Coolie has been in the lead, collecting ₹158.35 crore in its first three days.
The sequel reprises Hrithik Roshan as Kabir, but this time against RRR star Jr NTR. Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana also return from the original in their roles.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Sridhar Raghavan, War 2 has received polarized reviews. According to CE's review, "War 2 is an unnecessary addition to an already bloated YRF Spy Universe. It is a factory-line product, assembled purely to cash-in on an established franchise.
