Ved Lahoti, from the IIT Delhi zone, topped the highly competitive Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Advanced with a score of 355 out of 360 at the results released on Sunday morning. This year, the JEE-Advanced was organized by IIT Madras.
Among female candidates, the top performer is Dwija Dharmeshkumar Patel from the IIT Bombay zone, who scored 332 marks. She secured the 7th rank nationwide.
Four of the top-10 rank-holders are from the IIT Madras zone. Following Ved Lahoti, Aditya from the Delhi zone has bagged the second rank, and the third rank has been secured by Bhogalpalli Sandesh from the Madras zone.
Other toppers include Rhythm Kedia from the IIT Roorkee zone, Putti Kushal Kumar from IIT Madras, Rajdeep Mishra from IIT Bombay, Koduri Tejeswar from IIT Madras, Dhruvi Hemant Doshi from IIT Bombay, and Alladabona SSDB Sidhvik Suhas from IIT Madras with subsequent positions in that order.
The IIT Madras zone also has the highest number of qualifying candidates, followed by the IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay zones. From among the top 500 candidates who qualified, 145 are from IIT Madras, 136 from IIT Bombay, and 122 from IIT Delhi.
Apart from these candidates, a total number of seven foreign candidates and 179 Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) have also qualified for the examination.
Explaining the criteria for ranking that was followed, an official from IIT Madras said, \"The aggregate marks are the total of the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Candidates must meet both subject-wise and overall qualifying marks to be included in the rank list.\"
A total number of 1,80,200 candidates appeared this year for both papers of the IIT-JEE Advanced, out of which 48,248 candidates have qualified, including 7,964 female candidates.
The JEE-Main was conducted on May 26, and it stands as the admission test to engineering colleges all over the country.
The JoSAA counseling is to begin on Monday.
