SC refused to intervene into an interim order staying the admission counselling for medical courses in the wake of results of NEET UG-2024 exam. Vacation bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath, on the other hand issued a notice to NTA and others seeking quashing of this year's NEET UG exam that was held on May 5.
The bench exam said that this was not going to be simple; taking the exam doesn't sanctify the situation. So, they sought explanations and even attached a deadline to it to be answered. They clarified that there could be a suspension of counseling.
Senior Counsel for NTA mentioned a similar petition to the bench and pray for its listing for hearing on July 8 by a bench comprising CJI D.Y. Chandrachud. The Supreme Court ordered the present case to be posted to July 8, and directed NTA to file its reply in between.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had declined to stay the declaration of results of the NEET UG examination while issuing notices to NTA and others in a similar case.
The candidates who appeared in the May 5 NEET exam have filed a petition in the supreme court seeking the immediate and proper investigation against malpractices and fraud on the May 5 NEET exam. It also seeks to temporarily stay declaration of results until disbursement of investigations on the leaked paper matter. It has urged the NTA to withdraw the exam results conducted on May 5, order a fresh exam by issuing proper public notice.
