CBSE Class XII board exams cancelled for this year

The decision was taken after a key meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Cabinet ministers and the concerned officials. It was decided that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will take steps to compile the results of Class XII students as per a well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner, the PMO said.

The office of the director of elementary education said that this is in accordance with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009. The Director also said that officials of the School Education Department should inform all government, government-aided and private state board schools under their jurisdiction to promote all students of Class 1 to Class 8.

Attorney General K.K. Venugopal, urged the top court to give him time till Wednesday to come with a decision on cancelling class XII board exams due to pandemic. A bench comprising Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari told the AG, "you take a decision, but if you are departing from the decision taken last year in connection with the exams, then you must give us good reasons."
DU teachers, students want final semester exams scrapped

Delhi University on May 20 postponed semester exams for final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students for the second time and announced that these will now commence on June 7. The exams, which will now be held in the open-book format online, were earlier scheduled to start from May 15 but were postponed to June 1 owing to the spike in Covid cases.
