What is IIT JEE?

Students often seem to get confused about the engineering examination of IIT-JEE. IIT JEE is a joint entrance examination for undergraduate courses in the top-ranked engineering colleges of India. The examinations aren't entirely the same but are interconnected. JEE examinations are conducted by NTA for admissions in NITs, IITs, and other states/central engineering colleges.

JEE examinations are conducted in two phases, namely JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Students who clear JEE Main and figure among the top 2.5 lakh rank holders are eligible for JEE advanced that are conducted by the IIT examination body for admissions in IIT colleges.

So students who wish to get into prestigious IIT engineering colleges need to clear the JEE main (and make to list of top 2.5 lakh rank holders) followed by JEE advanced.
