Delhi schools to continue in offline mode for time being despite surge in Covid cases

Experts have advised Delhi officials on the closing of schools again amid rising cases in the National Capital. Schools in Delhi will not be closed, officials said on Wednesday. "Schools will not be closed and will continue with offline classes. Schools have been asked to report all cases to the education department and ensure that Covid protocols are followed strictly. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is constantly monitoring the situation in schools," a senior official said.

Covid cases are rising at a rapid rate in Delhi which is a major concern for the parents as the schools are running in full-time physical mode. The offline classes for all classes in Delhi schools have resumed after a gap of 2 years.

Schools are taking all the precautions like sanitizing at frequent intervals, wearing masks, and maintaining social distance which will avoid the spread of infections and thus avoid the shutdown of schools/institutes again.

The Delhi government had last week issued guidelines for schools asking them to close specific wings or classrooms wherever any student or teacher is found infected.

DDMA meeting was held on Wednesday to review the situation in Delhi amid rising cases. DDMA decided to impose a mask mandatory for all in public places and a penalty of Rs.500 for not obeying the order.  

The Haryana Education Department has made it optional for students to attend physical classes at a time when their staff and teachers are getting infected by the virus.
