ByteDance, the Chinese tech giant, has already made it clear that it would not yield to the diktat of the US government, which recently signed into law a bill under the administration of President Joe Biden making it mandatory to sell its stake in TikTok and outright ban the popular short-video app in the United States.
In a social media post, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, stated that it has no intention of selling its stake in TikTok, thus responding to earlier reports by The Information that ByteDance was reportedly considering selling its US operations.
Earlier, foreign media reporting claimed that ByteDance was under the control of the Chinese government, a claim the Chinese company refuted.
For its part, TikTok has said it will fight the new legislation in court that forces ByteDance to divest its ownership of TikTok within the next year.
Besides, the ByteDance TikTok app categorically denied the US government's charges that the company was under the control of the Chinese government.
Meanwhile, in a parallel development, as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited China, Beijing issued a warning note in advance, stating that the prospect of a further deterioration of the bilateral relationship between the two superpowers was a real possibility.
