Vodafone Idea Ordered to Pay Rs 15.19 Crore GST and Rs 1.51 Crore Penalty

VIL said it does not agree with the order and will take appropriate legal action.

The Patna GST office has asked debt-ridden Vodafone Idea to pay Rs 15.19 crore, along with a penalty of Rs 1.51 crore for allegedly availing input tax credit not so eligible for FY20 and FY21, a regulatory filing said on Wednesday.

VIL said it does not agree with the order and will take appropriate legal action.

The e-filing noted that an order has been passed by the Joint Commissioner for CGST and Central Excise, Patna, under "Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 confirming demand of Rs 15,19,20,351 along with penalty Rs 1,51,92,035 and interest as applicable."
The order relates to "availment of ineligible input tax credit for FY 2019-20 and 2020-21" allegedly received by the company on August 28.

"The financial implication is maximum to the extent of tax demand and interest and penalty levied. The company disagrees with such order and will take appropriate action(s)," it said.
