Shark Tank India Season 3: D'chica Secures Rs 80 Lakh Deal for Puberty Essentials Targeting Teen Girls

D’chica's, a brand dedicated to curating essential products tailored specifically for the needs and preferences of teenage girls going through puberty, struck a significant deal worth Rs 80 lakhs with Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh on the latest episode of 'Shark Tank India 3'.

From trendy bras and period panties to stylish athleisure wear and footwear, the brand endeavors to empower young girls during their formative teenage years with its carefully curated collection.

Bound by both familial ties as sisters-in-law and a shared passion for entrepreneurship, Richa and Vani, the brains behind D'chica, embarked on a fresh entrepreneurial journey after encountering setbacks with their previous venture focused on infants and toddlers.

Despite the challenges leading to the closure of their initial business, the determined sisters-in-law remained undeterred, embracing failure as a profound teacher and drawing invaluable lessons from the experience.

In 2019, they established D’chica, a brand committed to commemorating the transition from adolescence to womanhood, unveiling their inaugural innerwear collection in 2020.

Through their unwavering determination and relentless effort, Richa and Vani transformed D’chica into a brand that strikes a chord with both the Alpha and Gen Z generations.

During their appearance on the show, they sought Rs 80 lakhs in exchange for a one percent equity stake.

Amit Jain, CEO and co-founder of CarDekho Group, inquired, "Do you handle the manufacturing process internally or do you outsource it?"

Richa responded, stating, "Currently, we operate out of five manufacturing units."

Impressed by the products, Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd, remarked, "Dr. Garima is a new angel (pointing to the packaging)."

To which the founders explained, "Dr. Garima is a consulting gynecologist collaborating with us. We have brought onboard a gynecologist whom customers can consult for guidance. This initiative is aimed at fostering community engagement."

Ultimately, they clinched the deal with Namita and Vineeta (Co-Founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics) at Rs 80 lakhs for a two percent equity stake, along with a one percent royalty until the investment is recouped.

Expressing her excitement about participating in 'Shark Tank India,' Vani Chugh, co-founder of D'chica Fashion Lifestyle Private Ltd, stated, "Shark Tank India has provided our brand D'chica, focusing on teen and young women's innerwear, with a platform to reach millions of Indian households and initiate mainstream conversations about topics as taboo as menstruation, as well as common youth issues like body image and confidence."

"With our bras designed for changing bodies, reusable period panties, and chafe-free underwear, D'chica is strategically targeting the rapidly expanding market of over 12 crores young girls," she added.
