Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised work done in ensuring the success of Jan Dhan Yojana, terming it crucial for furthering financial inclusion.
"Today, we mark a momentous occasion – #10YearsOfJanDhan. Congratulations to all the beneficiaries and compliments to all those who worked to make this scheme a success," the prime minister said.
He pointed out that Jan Dhan Yojana has been a torchbearer in furthering the cause of financial inclusion for empowering millions, especially women, youth, and downtrodden.
Launched on this day in 2014, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a national mission aimed at achieving the goal of financial inclusion for every household in the country. It aims to provide access to universal banking facilities with at least one basic banking account in every household, thereby enabling financial literacy, access to credit, insurance, and pension facilities.
