Passengers aboard a Mumbai-Ranchi flight have raised concerns about a distressing experience when the flight was diverted to Kolkata due to adverse weather conditions. Allegedly, the airline staff failed to fulfill promises made onboard, leaving passengers stranded without proper arrangements upon landing.
IndiGo, the private carrier in question, countered these claims by asserting that all passengers on flight 6E-221 on January 19 were provided with meals and presented with the option of either a refund or an alternative flight.
One passenger, Vikram Srivastava, took to social media to express dissatisfaction, stating that they were "falsely promised" hotel accommodations and alternate flights before being deboarded. Srivastava questioned whether regulations permitted passengers to be left at a third location and highlighted the presence of pregnant women and elderly individuals on the flight who were allegedly denied assistance by the IndiGo team.
In response to Srivastava's post on social media, IndiGo expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured that they would investigate the matter.
An airline official clarified that the flight diversion to Kolkata was a result of unfavorable weather conditions at the intended destination of Ranchi. Passengers were given the choice of opting for an alternative flight or receiving a refund. The official further stated that, in addition to these options, all passengers were served meals at the Kolkata airport.
The conflicting narratives between passengers and the airline highlight the challenges and frustrations that can arise during unexpected situations, prompting a need for transparent communication and effective resolution in such scenarios.
