It was a high-stakes drama as Delhi Police chased Parsvnath Developers CEO Sanjeev Kumar Jain for almost 60 kilometers before he was finally detained at the IGI Airport where he allegedly was trying to flee the capital. On Sunday, the cops said Jain was wanted due to a non-bailable warrant against him issued by Shahdara police on July 18. Apart from that there were four other non-bailable warrants against him issued from different places.
Deputy Commissioner of Police for Shahdara, Surendra Choudhary, said Jain was arrested at the IGI Airport by the STF Shahdara team on Saturday. The arrest comes immediately after Jain failed to attend a hearing at the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
Officials said that the cops had to form a special task force, comprising officials from the Shahdara zone, to track down Jain as there were reports that he was constantly changing his location to avoid arrest. Working on a tip-off from one of his associates, the police traced Jain's mobile phone and kept watch on his movements. On Saturday, they tracked him to the area near IGI Airport, sent a team there and nabbed him.
He was accused of not delivering a flat to a homebuyer from Gurugram within the stipulated period. Cases have been filed against the Parsvnath Developers regarding inordinate delays in handing over completed flats to the buyers.
The Commission produced the company's MD, Jain, before it on Sunday after he was arrested.
