Maldives Dispute Sparks 3,400% Surge in Lakshadweep Searches, Prompts 'Beaches of India' Campaign by MakeMyTrip

The travel company took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share this surge in interest, attributing it to the Prime Minister's visit.

MakeMyTrip recently unveiled a 'Beaches of India' campaign following a remarkable surge of over 3,400% in searches related to Lakshadweep subsequent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the island.

The travel company took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share this surge in interest, attributing it to the Prime Minister's visit. They expressed their enthusiasm for the increased fascination with Indian beaches, prompting them to launch a dedicated campaign on their platform. This initiative aims to entice Indian travelers to explore the country's picturesque beaches by offering special discounts and enticing offers.

Contrarily, in response to derogatory remarks made against India and Prime Minister Modi by now-suspended ministers in the Maldives, EaseMyTrip, a Delhi-based travel company established in 2008, announced a suspension of all flight bookings to the island nation. Nishant Pitti, the founder and CEO of EaseMyTrip, took to X to express the company's stance, emphasizing solidarity with the nation by halting flight bookings to the Maldives.

This decision aligns with the Maldivian government's actions, which involved the suspension of three ministers for their disparaging remarks against India and its leadership.
