A senior executive of a Jindal Group company has been accused of the alleged molestation of a female co-passenger on board a Kolkata-Abu Dhabi flight, according to a Bidhanngar City Police officer on Sunday. Based on the complaint of the woman's parents, which was lodged at the Airport police station in northern Kolkata on Saturday, the police filed an FIR against the accused. The female passenger had shared her account on social media platform X, accusing the executive of showing her inappropriate videos disguised as movie clips, which had drawn widespread condemnation.
The case has been registered under sections 354 of the IPC, for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty, and section 509, for word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman, confirmed the officer. "We have initiated an investigation into the matter," he stated.
On the allegations, Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power, promised to take full inquiry into the matter. According to a press note issued by a company of the Jindal Group on Saturday, it said that the company has zero tolerance for such misconduct. The executive has been put on an administrative leave, with the independent probe by a third party initiated.
