Indian Startup Funding Soars to $202 Million, Surging Over 100% from Previous Week

Leading the pack were cleantech startups, leading with EV startup Battery Smart, which raised $65mn in a funding round led by LeapFrog Investments. The equity round saw participation from a mix of new and existing investors including MUFG Bank, Panasonic, Ecosystem Integrity Fund, Blume Ventures and British International Investment.

The Indian startup ecosystem saw a strong comeback in terms of fundraising last week as it raised as much as $202 million across 21 deals. As compared to the previous week, the Indian startups collectively secured about $98 m across 10 deals.

In the consumer goods segment, Singapore-based Panthera Growth Partners led a fundraising round of $18 million for direct-to-consumer skincare brand Foxtale. Renee Cosmetics is another beauty and makeup brand that raised Rs 100 crore, about $12 million in a Series B funding round led by Evolvence India and Edelweiss Group perhaps at a company valuation of Rs 1,200-1,400 crore.

In other big news, Zepto is an up-and-coming fast grocery delivery platform that will raise almost 650 million dollars from existing and new investors. This funding round that Zepto will raise, its valuation to approximately 3.5 billion dollars that will tough competition to Blinkit. In other news, Zepto has also made public the declaration that it will be listing itself on the stock exchange by issuing an initial public offering within the next 2-3 years, stating the aggressiveness of the company towards growth in the market.
